AI is rapidly becoming part of everyday life. This course provides fundamental literacy for students, teaching conscious use of AI tools, as well as critically evaluating their results.
1. Fundamentals and Role of AI (What is AI?)
How AI works, what data is, and how it performs 5 main functions: Finder, Maker, Organizer, Assistant, and Personalizer.
What You'll Learn
- Recognizes examples of AI in everyday life and identifies useful AI functions.
- Explains that generative AI uses input data (prompts) to create new content.
- Understands that AI works by finding patterns and making predictions.
2. Digital Citizenship and Ethics (Digital Citizenship and AI)
Principles of digital citizenship. Privacy protection and responsible behavior when using AI tools.
What You'll Learn
- Defines digital citizenship and demonstrates responsible actions when using AI.
- Understands how to protect personal privacy (e.g., not sharing address or age).
- Can demonstrate kind and respectful behavior online, even when interacting with AI.
3. Responsible Use and Critical Thinking (Responsible AI Use)
Why it's important to think critically about AI responses. Explaining Bias and Error generation. Practical experience in fact-checking.
What You'll Learn
- Explains that information created by AI can be incorrect or unfair.
- Understands that AI can have bias because it learns from human data.
- Applies fact-checking to evaluate the accuracy of AI output data.
- Develops the ability to independently verify the information they receive without fully trusting AI.
