Parents Often Ask
Find answers to the most common questions about this course
Casual play is great, but it can also cement bad habits. A trained coach spots weaknesses, teaches proper technique, and provides structured improvement. Kids who play casually for years often plateau - coaching breaks through that.
With regular practice, most kids see noticeable improvement within 2-3 months. We track their rating on Lichess so you can see real progress. But chess is a lifelong journey - the goal is steady growth, not overnight results.
Learning to handle losses is actually one of chess's biggest benefits! Our coaches are experienced with kids and know how to keep it fun while building resilience. We focus on finding the good moves, not just the final result.
Not required - we play online on Lichess (free). But having a real board at home is nice for practice between lessons. A basic set is fine, nothing fancy needed.
