Program Structure and Outcomes (8 Weeks)
Scratch is the best introduction to programming for children. Instead of writing complex code, children connect colorful blocks like Lego construction. This method allows learning logic, developing problem-solving skills, and creating independent projects.
Week 1-2: Introduction and Animation
Introduction to the Scratch environment, character selection and movement, understanding screen coordinates, creating simple animations and dialogues.
What You'll Learn
- Will be able to create simple animations with character movements and dialogues
- Will know how to move characters on the screen using coordinates
Week 3-4: Events and Loops
Starting a program (e.g., by clicking or pressing a key). Creating repetitive actions. Communication between characters.
What You'll Learn
- Will understand the concept of sequence and repetition (loops)
- Will be able to create simple effects that work with loops
Week 5-6: Conditions and Variables
"If... then..." logic. Using variables to calculate points, lives, or time.
What You'll Learn
- Will understand the concepts of condition and variable and be able to explain their application
- Will build simple interactive games such as a maze or collection game
Week 7-8: Final Game Project
Applying all learned concepts in one complete game (e.g., Ping-Pong). Presenting the project to the group.
What You'll Learn
- Will present their created project and explain how it works
- Will be able to change the appearance of characters and backgrounds using Scratch tools

That's exactly why Scratch works so well! Kids think they're playing, but they're actually learning the same logic that professional programmers use - loops, conditions, variables. By the end, they'll have created their own games, not just played someone else's.
Not at all - it's actually the perfect age! Scratch was designed by MIT specifically for kids 8-11. There's no typing code, just dragging colorful blocks. If your child can use a mouse and follow instructions, they're ready.
Your child will have 5-8 projects in their Scratch portfolio that they can share with friends and family. Many students continue creating on their own, and those who want to go deeper can move to our Web Programming course when they're 12+.
No purchases needed. Scratch runs free in any web browser. You just need a computer or laptop with internet - tablets aren't ideal because the drag-and-drop interface works better with a mouse.
